Lloyd Arakaki
Architect, LEED®-AP | Principal
Mr. Arakaki joined AHL in 1979 and his vast experience encompasses a broad range of architectural and planning in Hawaii, the U.S. Mainland, Japan, American Samoa, and Micronesia.
Much of his work has been on large, complex, and challenging projects such as the 750-room Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club timeshare development, the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Regional Office Center Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club Stores in Honolulu, the U.S. Army Reserve Center in American Samoa, and the Waikiki Landmark.
Mr. Arakaki leads the firm’s Federal projects effort. He has extensive knowledge in working with military agencies and requirements, including the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED, and Corps of Engineers SPiRiT sustainable design programs. Mr. Arakaki’s work includes high-security military command, control, and intelligence installations in Hawaii and various administrative and operational facilities in Guam and Japan.
Mr. Arakaki is active in community affairs, a frequent speaker at local high schools on career opportunities in architecture, and is a member of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Society of American Military Engineer, and other various community and business organizations. He received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Hawaii and is licensed in Hawaii.
