Grant Thornton LLP Office Renovation

With a sincere commitment to work/life balance and the happiness and well-being of their employees built into their corporate culture, Grant Thornton, LLP wanted a new office that was aesthetically and emotionally pleasing for their staff. They also wanted their renovated penthouse space to incorporate the fantastic view of the harbor and ocean outside their windows.
With most of their employees under the age of 30, the 12,854-square-foot penthouse needed to exude the qualities deemed “cool” and attractive to a younger demographic. Materials and finishes selected were textural and warm; organic lines such as a special curved ceiling treatment reflected a less corporate office look; a peaceful atmosphere was achieved through a soothing blue/green palette; and furnishings provided comfort without being too outrageously modern.
The new office features an employee café with lounge chairs and a Nintendo Wii®, a wellness room for tired workers and nursing mothers as well as cutting edge training and conference rooms with state-of-the-art video equipment.
The staff café and kitchen provide a seating area with spectacular views. Situated adjacent to the training room, sliding doors open up the café to the training room with the capacity to create one larger space.
The new penthouse is 50 percent larger than the firm’s former location on the 10th floor and leaves room for expansion of staff from 50 to 90 employees. Twice the storage capacity was also planned.
In all, the renovation successfully expresses Grant Thornton’s continued reputation as a professional, top-rate accounting firm while affirming client satisfaction and encouraging staff comfort and new staff recruitment.
