The Shops at Kukui‘ula

Architecture that pays homage to Hawai‘i's plantation past.

The Shops at Kukui‘ula were inspired by Kaua‘i’s natural landscape and heritage. The design captures the rich agricultural and economic history of the Garden Isle and emphasizes the sugarcane plantation and the multi-cultural influences of the area. The site connects open gathering spaces with the ‘pedestrian main street’ and surrounding residential homes. Kukui‘ula preserves the architectural character of old Koloa Town and includes unique features such as the Uluwehi Garden, a beautiful, lush verdure with tropical plants and a Kapuna Story Hearth with shallow water features and ‘ili‘ili stones throughout the pedestrian mall.
